Why this exists
Most freelancers in the UK start the same way: a first paying client, a quick invoice in Word, a contract copied from a forum post, and a growing stack of questions about tax, payment terms, and what “proper” looks like.
TrustSolo exists to close that gap. The goal is simple: a new freelancer with their first client should be able to send a professional contract, issue an invoice with an online payment link, and get paid — in under ten minutes, without reading any documentation.
Underneath that, we cover the work most new freelancers don't know they need yet: payment terms that get invoices paid on time, contracts that stand up if something goes wrong, and a plain-English picture of what HMRC will want in January.
Who it's for
TrustSolo is built for UK freelancers, sole traders, and contractors in their first eighteen months — copywriters, designers, developers, photographers, virtual assistants, tutors, bookkeepers, consultants, and social media managers.
We're UK-only at launch. Prices are in pounds, contracts reference UK law, and tax estimates use HMRC bands. International expansion is on the roadmap but isn't the first thing we want to get right.
How we're different
- Opinionated defaults. Payment terms, invoice structure, contract clauses — all set to what actually works, so you don't have to decide from scratch.
- Built for the first eighteen months. Not a scaled-down version of accounting software for agencies. Every feature answers a question real new freelancers ask.
- UK-specific. Contract templates reference UK law. Tax estimates use current HMRC bands. VAT handling is on the roadmap for when you hit the threshold.
- Honest about what we're not. We're not an accountant and we don't replace one. We give you the picture, and a handoff to a real professional when the numbers get serious.
Who built it
TrustSolo is built and run by a small team in the UK. If you've reached this page, there's a strong chance you're reading words written by someone who will also reply to your emails.
Founder note: this section is intentionally short. Replace with Neil's personal story — why you started, what you saw in the UK freelance market, what you want TrustSolo to stand for. Readers on an “About” page are looking for a real human; a short first-person paragraph beats a polished corporate bio.
